What we look for

More than test scores.

We read every application carefully — transcripts, essays, recommendations, and interviews together. Strong students have curiosity, persistence, and the capacity to grow alongside our community.

There is no minimum SSAT or GPA threshold, no formula, no quotas. We are looking for the next Westbrook class — students who will use a Westbrook education well.

Financial aid

Need-blind. Need-met.

In 2025–26, 34% of our students received financial aid; the average award was $26,400. Westbrook is need-blind: admissions decisions are made before financial aid decisions, and we meet 100% of demonstrated need.

Aid applications are processed through SSS and reviewed by our financial aid committee. Reach out with any questions — we are here to help.

Admissions FAQ

What grades have the most space?

Our biggest entry points are Kindergarten, Grade 5 (start of Middle School), and Grade 9 (start of Upper School). Mid-year and mid-grade entries are considered if space allows.

Do you accept students with learning differences?

Westbrook supports students with mild-to-moderate learning differences when our program is a strong fit. Our Learning Support team reviews documentation with each application and consults with families before any decision is made.

Are there sibling preferences?

Siblings of current Westbrook students receive thoughtful consideration but are not automatically admitted. Strong sibling applicants do enjoy a meaningful boost.

What does the average class look like?

Our 2030 graduating class (current Grade 5) has 64 students from 14 sending schools and 9 zip codes. Roughly 39% identify as students of color; 31% receive financial aid.

Can my child shadow for a day?

Yes — we encourage it. Shadow days are offered November through February, Tuesday through Thursday. Email admissions to arrange.

Ready to begin?

The application takes most families about 90 minutes. Your admissions counselor is available by phone or email every step of the way.
